Interplanetary Cycle Trail Launch and Naseby Dark Skies test

As part of the Otago Museum’s role supporting the Otago Central Rail Trail Trust’s project on mapping the solar system onto the rail trail (Interplanetary Cycle Trail), the Museum is organising a launch day at Ranfurly. 
The Museum team will be based in the Ranfurly Town hall.  From 10-3pm  they will be running astronomy-themed sessions with the Maniototo Area School. Then between 4-6pm at the Ranfurly Town Hall you are invited to come and learn more about the project and get involved then hear Dr Ian Griffin's talk on Otago's amazing Night Skies. 
Afterwards there will be opportunity  to try some star/planet gazing first hand and test drive Naseby’s proposed Night Skies viewing area between 7 and 9 p.m. Meet at the corner of Mount Buster and Danseys Pass Road. The Dunedin Astronomy Society will kindly be providing telescopes and other equipment.
